Overview
One of the first Fire Safe Councils in California, the Greater Laguna Coast Fire Safe Council came together to discuss insurance availability following the 1993 Laguna Beach Wildfire. Since 2001, we have had an active Red Flag Patrol, a Fire Alert Flag program, a Fire-Safe and Water Wise demonstration garden in downtown Laguna Beach among other projects in and around Laguna Beach. Our SAWTI DATA Team currently provides readings for the Santa Ana Wind Threat Index (SAWTI) for the Orange County Coastal Weather Zone.
Our mission is to offer practical demonstrations and programs that help reduce the wildfire threat to Laguna Beach.
